Mobile operating system Ubuntu arrives Oct. 17 - TeK.sapo

Seventeen October date will be aligned to the South African manufacturer to release the first stable version of software for mobile phones, an old dream of the company, which for several years promises an offer in this area.

The same release date applies to the release of new version of software for desktop, Ubuntu 13:10 Saucy Salamander, whose code is also the basis of the touch version for mobile devices.

On the information available, Canonical shows the operating system to run on devices and Galaxy Nexus, but the portfolio of equipment to run the new software platform will be higher.

With these models Canonical made the most tests before finalizing the product, but the company has also worked with other manufacturers and operators in preparation for the launch of more this competitor to Android, iOS and Windows Phone. TMN is among the companies that have already proved to be working with the manufacturer.

It should be noted, however, that although the first stable version of the software becomes available as early as October, will take even more time until they reach the market. The predictions indicated by the company’s CEO, after the failure of the campaign Ubuntu Edge a crowdfunding platform, indicated that the first smartphones with Touch Ubuntu would be released in late 2013 or early 2014.
