The U.S. Constitution has undergone a change that makes the ‘likes’ on Facebook a form of freedom of expression, a right that gives protection to any citizen.

‘likes’ on Facebook are now considered a form of freedom of expression as enshrined in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and should not be distinguished from a publication expressing opinions and thoughts.

Clicking with the mouse on the ‘taste’ becomes even pronounce or write something like that, being seen as a substantive statement in the eyes of the Constitution, which makes it a protected right of citizens .

The amendment resulted from a decision of the court regarding the case of dismissal of some election candidates in Virginia, the U.S. state, because they liked the Facebook page of an opposing candidate.

If, initially, the court did not hold that the plaintiffs were dismissed by the sheriff who led the list that have contributed, the appellate court came now decide that citizens must be protected like any person exercising freedom of expression.

He added: “Placing a Facebook like a post is the equivalent of putting a political poster in the front yard.”

A representative of the social network has issued a statement to welcome the decision.
