Review of Galaxy S2 Lite: a generic that is opposite the original - Globo.com

Galaxy S2 Lite is only considered a simpler version of the now classic and inexpensive Galaxy S2 hit the market in 2011. With smaller screen and specifications more basic than his brother, the model was supposed to be a smartphone that capitalized on a median household name, but the surprising and apparatus, although inferior, becomes comparable to the original in many respects. Check out the review.

Design

Despite having a drawing oldest Samsung – the “little black dress”, which was criticized for seeming a copy of the iPhone – the S2 Lite is very elegant and very comfortable to use. The device is not really light (120g), but its weight does not bother in daily. Furthermore, by having a smaller size than the original Galaxy S2, fits perfectly in the hand and provides great usability.

Its front is very similar to the Galaxy S2, but smaller and with a different physical button. Already after, the machine takes a plastic cap with texture that, although there seems to be very tough, is removable and pretty. On the side, the model has the basic buttons for volume and on / off, and does not have a very attractive thick (9.7 mm).

Screen

Perhaps the biggest highlight of your display Lite is that for a unit price reasonable surprises. The Super AMOLED screen is 4 inches – a size with an average interest to perform any activity with the phone – with 480 x 800 pixels (exactly the same as the original Galaxy S2, but with a density even better), and still has a slight curvature, which makes it very elegant.

In practice, the display shows images with good definition and very well lit. With it, you can read texts with small print with ease, as well as view photos and high resolution videos with perfection. Although the pixels in the display are very visible and the colors do not have as much loyalty as in other models – often pulling too much for the blue or red – the images are excellent.

Sensitivity Touch Screen S2 Lite is also great. Plus the good specifications of the device, the screens roll easily and the display gives rapid responses to commands made with the fingers.

Operating System

Galaxy S2 Lite has the android system version 2.3 Gingerbread. Despite having been a very popular editing platform, it is very outdated, since the vast majority of devices 2012 – year model launch – bringing the system 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Fortunately, Samsung’s S2 Lite released update to version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the penultimate provided by Google.

One of the downsides of the device is something quite common in devices from Samsung: excess apps preinstalled. These applications can not be deleted, and are mostly useless as well. Ie, only serve to fill the device memory and pollute the Android menu.

In addition, the TouchWiz interface – the own Samsung – Android 2.3 is quite weak, with large icons and looks a bit childish. Of course this question relies on the user’s opinion, but overall the look of Android’s South Korean company is ugly and somewhat modern.

Performance

specifications S2 Lite are very interesting: Cortex-A9 dual-core processor – the same as the Galaxy S2 – running at 1 GHz, 768 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, expandable with microSD card. Despite being lower, especially in RAM, several other models in the same price range, hardware on the unit is very good and ensures excellent operating in daily functions.

low internal storage can be a problem for those who like to fill the smartphone apps, music, videos and files, but as the device has support for memory cards up to 32GB, users need not despair.

For those who like games, you can enjoy the large collection that offers Android store with great satisfaction. The machine runs perfectly the most basic games like Angry Birds and Temple Run, but also has good performance in those heavier, with complex graphics and 3D.

Overall, it is good not to abuse the functioning of S2 Lite, as with many apps open heavy he can start showing slowdowns and crashes. But in general, you can expect a phone that runs very common applications such as WhatsApp, Skype and Facebook.

Camera

In terms

photographs, the S2 Lite may disappoint a bit. Because it is already customary that the devices in the same price range bring cameras of 8 megapixels with different resources, which it has not. The model has a machine that only 5 megapixels to make good pictures, but it has great highlights.

Incidentally

, as well as display the recorded images also show a little color distortion. For those who just want a camera to post pictures on Facebook and Instagram, however, the Lite fulfills its purpose very well. But you can not expect much more than that.

Battery

Another downside of S2 Lite is its battery. By having a well-lit screen, plus a hardware good, the appliance is energy intensive, and its only 1500 mAh battery can not cope. So prepare to load the phone every 10 hours when using it very often, especially with 3G on. In more specific uses, without abusing the internet, games or videos, he even gets a better performance, reaching a charge per day.

Cost effective

Samsung Galaxy S2 Lite is available in stores now on average £ 850. For the price, you can find rivals with similar performance and some aspects superior – like the Xperia P from Sony, which has a much better camera. However, the Lite is nonetheless an excellent option for those who like the look of the device and the likes of Samsung products.

Anyone willing to pay the amount by the unit will not regret it: your screen is excellent, the performance is great for applications until a little heavier and your camera fulfills its role well. Of course it has weaknesses, but details are for those who do not mind having a device launched in early 2012.

So it is possible to say that, although a bit outdated and older design, the S2 Lite is still one of the best options in the market, showing great value for money. The model even gets to do justice to the name of the original Galaxy S2, already considered a top of the line category. For those who are not crazy about technology and just want a device for day to day, the choice is very correct.
